Donovan Mitchell has recently gotten traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, and there’s no doubt that this will be a good situation for him. The team already had a young core with two All-Stars in place, and adding a three-level shot creator to the team could potentially take them to the next level.

The Cleveland Cavaliers had to give up a good number of assets to acquire Donovan Mitchell. Their trade package included Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, three first-round picks, and two first-round swaps.

Giving up a lot for one player is always a risk, but if things pan out, the Cleveland Cavaliers could be a scary team in the Eastern Conference. They have three All-Stars on the roster as of right now, and that is enough talent to be a dark horse contender.

Donovan Mitchell Is Excited To Be On The Cavaliers

It seems as though Donovan Mitchell is excited to be a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has recently shared a photo of his younger self with a Cavaliers jersey on, along with the viral Brian Windhorst meme. Donovan Mitchell seems to be implying that the photo on the left was a foreshadowing for this recent move to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Earlier in the summer, Donovan Mitchell was linked with two big-market teams, the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks. While the Cleveland Cavaliers may not be located in as big of a market, there are clearly reasons to be excited about the move due to the young talent and depth on the team.

The Cleveland Cavaliers relied on Darius Garland to carry a majority of their offensive load this season, and Donovan Mitchell could help relieve some pressure on the point guard. He would also give them a go-to scorer at the end of games, something that is extremely important in the playoffs.

Obviously, the Eastern Conference is going to be absolutely stacked, and there will be a number of competitive teams that they might have to face if they want to get to the Finals, such as the Milwaukee Bucks, the Boston Celtics, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

However, the Cleveland Cavaliers clearly believe in their current core, which is why they made a blockbuster win-now move for Donovan Mitchell. Hopefully, we see Donovan Mitchell thrive in his new situation, and it is obvious that he’s ready to start hooping for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
