With just days to go before the start of the new season, all eyes are on the Nets and Lakers — two high-market teams with the most talented rosters in the league.

And while it’s understandable that they receive so much attention, ESPN broadcaster Dorris Burke says the Milwaukee Bucks need some respect too.

“Can we stop disrespecting the champs,” said Burke. “Nobody’s talking about Milwaukee. Champions walk different, they carry themselves different, they feel different. Giannis is unleashed. I think we better not underestimate the defending Champs.”

A year ago, many were counting the Bucks out. A slew of underwhelming playoff performances left doubt in the mind of many that they were true title contenders.

But thanks to some moves made by the front office, and the amazing development of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee was able to shock the world in 2021, beating out Miami, Brooklyn, Atlanta, and Phoenix to win the title.

The question is, can they do it again this season? That much remains to be seen, but Dorris Burke isn’t the only one who sees them as more than capable of defending their crown.

“The sleeper team I think is going to be Milwaukee,” said Richard Jefferson. “That’s my sleeper. That catches you off guard. I think that so many people think that because of injuries, which I think did contribute to some of their success, I think that they are going to exceed what people think with everyone healthy. I think everyone’s going to be healthy, and they’re still going to play better than what people think. I think they’re going to exceed expectations. And I think they’re gonna finish first.”

Experience can go a long way in the NBA, and the Bucks know what it takes to win a Championship. That is more than can be said for many teams, and stars, out there.

So, with that newfound experience and their stellar talent, Milwaukee could be in for another historical run.
