Draymond Green is a key player for the Golden State Warriors, and there’s no doubt that he’s important for the team. He is a forward that is the anchor of their defense and is also a capable playmaker in their offense. This past season, Draymond Green averaged 7.5 PPG, 7.3 RPG, and 7.0 APG.

In 2016, the Golden State Warriors won 73 games during the regular season. Unfortunately, the Warriors were not able to win the championship, as they blew a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals.

Draymond Green was notably suspended for Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals after getting into an altercation with LeBron James, hitting the superstar in the groin, and receiving a flagrant foul. Some have theorized that the Golden State Warriors could have potentially won that game and closed out the series had Draymond Green been playing.

Draymond Green Says He’d Do The Suspension Again In 2016

On an episode of the Checc’n In podcast on Caffeine TV, Draymond Green admitted that he would be willing to get suspended again. He admitted that he cost the Warriors the 2016 championship, claiming that he “can take that on the chin”. Green added that he owns up to his mistakes.

“I cost us a championship. I’m fine with that. I can take that on the chin, no problem. I own up to my mistakes. ‘Would I do it again? One thousand percent’.”

It is clear that Draymond Green understand that he cost the Golden State Warriors the chance to cap off their 73-9 season with a championship, though he clearly would be willing to get suspended again. However, he has definitely helped make up for his mistakes by helping the team win the 2022 NBA championship against the Boston Celtics.

As of right now, Draymond Green is likely getting ready to start the season with the Golden State Warriors. The NBA season is just around the corner, and there is no question that the Golden State Warriors will be highly motivated to defend their title and win a fifth championship in the Stephen Curry era.

The Western Conference will be tougher next season, with plenty of good teams vying to make the NBA Finals. The Los Angeles Clippers and the Denver Nuggets will likely be their biggest competitors. Draymond Green’s elite defense will be key during both of those matchups, and we’ll see if the Golden State Warriors will be able to repeat.
