Draymond Green After The Warriors Were Down 3-1 In The Finals: “I’ve Been On The Wrong Side Of 3-1, So Why Not Make Our Own History?”

2 Min Read

The Golden State Warriors have dominated the NBA for the past five seasons. With five straight appearances to the Finals and 3 title wins, they are clearly one of the best teams in the modern era.

So when their backs were against the wall in the 2019 Finals, nobody was ready to count them out completely. Just take a look at what Draymond Green said following their Game 4 loss to Toronto:

“We’ve been on the wrong end of 3-1 before, why not make our own history?,” Draymond Green preached in his post-game press conference following the Game 4 loss.

The Warriors would be able to win one more before eventually losing to the Raptors in 6 games. Following injuries to Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant, the Warriors just didn’t have enough of their stars left to compete.

Of course, 2019 wasn’t their only experience with 3-1 leads. Back in 2016, the Warriors came roaring back from down 3-1 to beat the Durant-led Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. The very next series, they would go on to make and lose their own 3-1 lead to the Cavaliers.

The Warriors, it seems, have experience with high-pressure situations — though their response has varied over the years.

Either way, it’s never wise to count them out, especially now. With Steph, Klay, and Draymond projected to be in good health for next season, one can only imagine what they’ll be capable of.
