Draymond Green On The Warriors: “If We Continue To Compete And Move The Ball Like We Did Tonight, I Think We Can Compete With Anyone.”

The Golden State Warriors didn’t start the 2020/21 NBA season with a lot of expectations after losing Klay Thompson due to a torn right Achilles tendon in the preseason. A lot of fans believed that was the end of the season for the Dubs but they have demonstrated they can still compete.

Following their first two games of the season, where the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks absolutely dominated them, Golden State showed a lot of heart and won four of their next five games. Now they’re ready to continue their good pace and Draymond Green, who missed the first games of the season, is back and ready to help his team succeed in a stacked Western Conference.

After the Dubs beat the Sacramento Kings, 137-122 on Monday night, Green talked about the next games for the team, explaining that they’re not afraid of any rival, even though most of them are currently above .500.

Via ESPN:

“We still have a long ways to go,” Green said. “We’ve played two good games. That’s great. But we haven’t even scratched the surface yet. This team, I think we have good potential, a lot of young guys, a lot of young talent that we can continue to build, and they’ll continue to grow and get better. But we’re a long ways off.

“Are we ready to compete with those teams? I don’t know. But we will compete, and that’s the thing.”

Green, who continues to make his presence felt on the defensive end as the engine of the young group, remains confident the Warriors can hold their own with any team in the league, no matter who is on the floor.

“I think if we compete, if we defend like we defend the last two nights, move the ball like we’ve done, I think we can play with anyone,” Green said. “We just got to make sure we continue to build, continue to learn the fundamentals, continue to learn each other and, most importantly, continue to build that trust that you need in order to be a good team.”

Draymond knows the responsibility and the pressure is big now but he’s ready to do whatever it takes to lead this team to compete. He’s acting like the leader his team needs besides Stephen Curry and his presence on the court and the locker room will be very beneficial for the Dubs. The job won’t be easy but this team wants to fight against the odds and prove their doubters wrong.
