Isiah Thomas Explains The Difference Between Luka Doncic And Magic, Harden, And Simmons

2 Min Read

As one of the NBA’s best and brightest young stars, Luka Doncic is attracting a lot of attention from fans, spectators, and even former players.

Following his first triple-double of the new season, NBA legend Isiah Thomas became the latest figure to join the Luka swan song, comparing him to Magic Johnson, James Harden, and Ben Simmons.

“That’s the unique thing about Luka and Harden, even though Harden didn’t have a good game tonight. These guys are so talented and so good that they can come in out of shape and put up these kinds of numbers and play themselves into shape. When they get in shape, they’re some of the best to have ever done it.

Difference between Magic, Luka, and Ben (Simmons) is that Luka is getting 25-26 points a night. He’s a three-point threat… Magic impacted the stat sheet a lot of different ways, but no one impacts it like Luka does from a scoring standpoint. What he’s doing is off the charts and very unique for our league to see a player like this.”

It’s clear from Thomas’ statement that he’s pointing to Luka’s ability as not only a premier playmaker (he had 11 assists in Sunday night’s win), but also a top-tier scorer. Compared to guys like Magic and Simmons, Luka is a much more well-rounded scorer, being able to create shots off the dribble and hit the mark consistently from the perimeter.

Up until last night, Doncic was off to a slow start and his team was struggling to win games.

But if his explosion was a sign of things to come, the Mavs will be right back in the thick of things in the West, and Doncic will continue to inspire awe and amazement from the NBA community.
