Former NBA superstar Dwyane Wade took a step in the media world after his retirement in 2019. Now, three years later, he’s taking a step back.
According to reporters, the former Miami Heat superstar has stepped down from his position on TNT Thursdays and will be replaced by Jamal Crawford.
“Jamal Crawford is set to replace Dwyane Wade on TNT’s Tuesday night, per @AndrewMarchand. The set now includes Jamal Crawford, Shaquille O’Neal, Candace Parker, and host Adam Lefkoe.”
While Wade is generally well-liked by the fans, he wasn’t a favorite on ‘Inside the NBA’ and his panel of broadcasters wasn’t nearly as popular as the 4-man Thursday lineup.
Still, it’s sad to see him go so early, and many are hoping he’ll be back.
In the meantime, Wade will be replaced by former league sharpshooter Jamal Crawford.

In a statement by Wade, he responds to his exit from the show and congratulates Crawford on landing the position.

TNT is notorious in the NBA community for being the site of Thursday night’s ‘Inside the NBA’ with Shaq, Charles, and Kenny Smith. TNT ended up building a Tuesday night crew to match, and Wade was a featured member.
But the former Heat star is also a businessman, and he has other obligations to consider. His ownership stake in the Utah Jazz, for example, takes president over his media ventures, and he is clearly putting a lot of energy into that role.
“I don’t want to say something went ‘wrong’. I think that teams with All-Stars and good players, everyone comes in with the idea that ‘they have to win a championship, they have to win a championship’; and that’s one of the most unrealistic goals: for everyone to win a championship,” said Wade on Utah’s failed 20campaign.
It’s not everyone’s time, at all times.
This is a team that’s still trying to learn how to win together. Still trying to learn how to win in this league. It’s very hard to win in this league. It just doesn’t happen because you’re a great player, or a great young player, or having multiple players who are great. It’s nothing different than this team learning how to win.
It remains to be seen how Wade’s other investments will go, but it doesn’t seem like he has closed the door on his television future.
One day, he might return and grace us all with his basketball knowledge. For now, we’ll just have to stick to watching his old clips as he dedicates himself to being a full-time businessman.
