The ESPYs, or the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards, are presented every year to athletes and teams that excelled in their sport that year. The ESPYs are always hosted by a celebrity, and that sometimes includes star athletes, LeBron James and Russell Wilson, for example, are two that have hosted this award in their history.
The latest athlete to host the event was Stephen Curry. Curry is riding a high at the moment, having finally won his first Finals MVP and having led the Golden State Warriors to their 4th championship of his tenure. The offseason has looked like one long celebration for Curry and the Warriors so far, with his wife, Ayesha Curry, also getting involved in the action from time to time.
Ayesha was on hand to do a promo for the ESPYs along with Curry, in which they were seemingly discussing seating arrangements for the ceremony. Ayesha took a few shots at Steph about men not being able to listen before trolling him by saying she likes Klay Thompson because he is a quiet guy.
Steph: “You haven’t mentioned any men so far?”
Ayesha: “Oooo no! Whose going to do all of the talking and none of the listening?”
Steph: “I was going to suggest Klay Thompson.”
Ayesha: “Oh. I’ll take Klay. He’s quiet.”
Ayesha and Stephen have always had a very loving relationship as far as being in the public eye, but she isn’t shy of making fun of the NBA superstar either. Their dynamic is a very comfortable one, this is the sort of humor that makes them endearing to many and admittedly annoying to a few fans as well. In any case, Klay Thompson will likely take the compliment, after all, there’s not much that seems to faze him.
