Soccer superstar Lionel Messi has recently agreed on a move that will allow him to join MLS team Inter Miami. The deal was big news across the world, and it seems as though it has made waves even around the NBA.

Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has recently claimed that he is excited to see Lionel Messi play for Inter Miami, noting that his sons are just starting to get into the sport of soccer.

“It’s exciting. My two sons, they’re just getting into soccer, so— football. Hopefully, I can get a ticket and take them to some games.”

There is no doubt that watching Lionel Messi is going to be a fantastic experience for anyone. The star has dazzled crowds all throughout his career, and now he has the opportunity to do it for an American audience in the MLS.

In Ligue 1 with PSG, Lionel Messi finished with 16 goals and 16 assists. He is clearly still a productive player in the twilight of his career, and he is clearly still a player that will draw eyes to him on the soccer field.

Lionel Messi Rejected A Lucrative Offer From Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal To Join The MLS

It was previously revealed that Lionel Messi rejected a three-year, $1.6 billion offer to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. That amount is staggering, and it is more than LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Giannis Antetokounmpo have earned over the course of their combined careers.

LeBron James Total Career Earnings: $431,859,107 (20 Seasons)

Kevin Durant Total Career Earnings: $350,297,591 (16 Seasons)

Stephen Curry Total Career Earnings: $302,806,362 (14 seasons)

Giannis Antetokounmpo Total Career Earnings: $188,837,362 (10 seasons)

“Adding each NBA superstar’s total career earnings, we get $1,273,800,422 over 60 seasons, which is roughly $1.28 billion,” wrote Aikansh Chaudhary.

Usually, we think of professional athletes as all being extremely wealthy, but it is clear that even among them, there are levels of wealth. LeBron James only recently became a billionaire, and Messi could have surpassed his net worth within three years.

There is no doubt that at this point for Messi, comfort, lifestyle, and family take priority over everything else. It is easy to see why he decided to move to the United States, and hopefully, he has a great tenure with Miami Inter.
