Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is widely viewed as the best center in NBA history. He won six championships during his time with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers and was notably part of the highly successful Showtime Lakers dynasty.

Throughout his career, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar accomplished a lot in the league. In fact, there are a number of people who believe that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the GOAT. However, the majority of people would likely still pick Michael Jordan or LeBron James as the GOAT of basketball. Recently, a number of fans debated whether Abdul-Jabbar can be considered better than James or Jordan.

Lmao I opened this and the two comments were “absolutely” and “hell no”.

I should ask my dad. He and I had debates back in the day when I called MJ the GOAT and he went to bat for Kareem lol

Kareem’s case Vs both of them is that Kareem might have 2+ more MVPs if he didn’t play college. I’m a Jordan guy but he wouldn’t have won MVP in his first 3 years if he skipped college. Kareem might have been the best player on the planet when he was 18

Both he and Bill Russell have an argument depending on what you value

It gets a lot more viable if you include high school and college careers and not just NBA

I went to my neighbors house to watch the game where bron broke the record. And the first thing their dad said was “kareem is still the best player ever to me” lol

If anything he doesn’t get a fair argument often enough.

Kareem was never considered the best player ever mostly because he just wasn’t so interesting to watch. Like he didn’t make basketball itself more popular like some other guys like Magic and Bird and Jordan.

Hell yeah. I don’t want to write an essay on why Kareem has an argument, but to be succinct – any knock on LeBron or Jordan in their career, Kareem managed to achieve.

They play 3 different positions guys. Even if you think one guy is better than the other, they are still all timers.

It’s hard to argue someone is a GOAT when they spent a third of their career in a league without ABA players (ie. some of the best basketball players in the world at that time).

The more I look at Kareem’s career he’s a lot closer to the people ranked 4 and 5 than he is to the ones ranked 1 and 2.

Accomplishments removed, not even close. Accomplishment wise. He the goat.

There is no doubt that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is severely underrated when it comes to debates about all-time rankings. He definitely should be considered top 3 based on accomplishments alone, though obviously, everyone has their own criteria for how they grade players.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Deserves A Lot Of Respect

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a legend of the game, and it is clear that he is a legitimate GOAT candidate. Though he is not as high-profile as Michael Jordan and LeBron James, he definitely dominated his era. Some even have the center above Jordan and James.

Hopefully, we will see Kareem Abdul-Jabbar get more respect from younger fans in the future. He has become underrated with the passage of time, but he is still a first-class NBA legend.
