Ja Morant is proving to everyone that he is going to be among the best guards in the league for a very long time. After making the All-NBA team last season, Morant is in contention for a first-team position this season if he can edge out the likes of Stephen Curry, Donovan Mitchell, Luka Doncic, and Devin Booker to be one of the two guards selected.

Morant generated MVP buzz last season and would have had similar support this season if the competition weren’t having historic nights every now and then while also being more available for their teams than Morant has been. Many still peg him to be a future MVP, like Michael Beasley, who reckons Morant will be the best player in the league for years to come.

Everyone hopes that young thriving can continue thriving, but Morant will have to elevate his game to a level where he can have the holistic impact other guards are having in the NBA.

The Grizz are also a solid team when Morant is out, making people cite the strength of his team behind the team’s success and not just Ja. However, his 38-point game tonight in a win against the Spurs proved to many that Morant is clearly the leader of the Grizz.

How Bright Is Ja Morant’s Future?

Given the great young team that the Grizzlies have constructed, with them already being a top team in the West, the sky is the limit for Ja. He can start winning titles if the development goes right, but it’ll be a challenge to overcome the playoff hump. The only major concern with Ja’s game is exposure to injury.

We have seen high-flying point guards be ruined with one major injury, with Morant struggling last season to be consistently available, missing 25 games for Memphis. His injury in the playoffs sunk the Grizzlies’ chance of beating the Golden State Warriors as well.

While he isn’t as injury-prone as the first pick from his draft, Zion Williamson, Morant misses time every year. We’ve seen what happens to athletic point guards when they get major injuries, so everyone will be praying that Morant gets to fulfill his potential as an MVP and not diminish because of injuries that slow him down earlier than expected.
