Tyrese Haliburton is well on his way to being an All-Star this season, as he has led the Indiana Pacers to defy expectations and be fighting for a playoff spot this season. Under veteran coach Rick Carlisle, Haliburton has emerged as one of the best point guards in the league, battling James Harden to be the assists leader this season.
Haliburton’s All-Star campaign has been controversial, with former player and Knicks media member Wally Szczerbiak dismissing his All-Star case the last time the Pacers faced the New York Knicks. With another game against the Knicks tonight, Haliburton had the chance to disprove Szczerbiak in front of him but ended up injuring his knee.

It’s too soon to speculate on the level of Haliburton’s injury right now. We recently saw Kevin Durant go out with a knee injury, which has sidelined him for around 4 weeks. Hopefully, Haliburton’s injury isn’t serious enough to make him miss out on a potential All-Star berth.
Tyrese Haliburton’s Importance To The Pacers
Haliburton’s growth has allowed the Pacers to contend for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. It has also given the Pacers a genuine reason to keep players like Myles Turner on the roster to help their chances in that race. They already have 23 wins on the season, which is going to make it hard for them to tank to the bottom from this position.
Carlisle is an experienced coach and will be able to provide rotations to win even in Tyrese’s absence. The Pacers have more young talent on the bench thrusting for opportunities. Hopefully, players like Andrew Nembhard and Bennedict Mathurin get a larger opportunity over the time Tyrese is sitting out.
