The incident between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole is back in the news cycle, with Green recently explaining that he punched Poole due to certain things that the latter said.

No matter what was said, it is fair to say that Draymond Green hitting Jordan Poole was unnecessary and excessive. In fact, former player Eddie Johnson recently criticized Draymond Green for how he handled things, noting that it was bad leadership from him.

“He says Jordan Poole is not an adult… then you failed, Steph failed, Klay failed, Steve Kerr failed. Because he’s a young player… It’s a way to approach them… Now Jordan Poole is not an adult, it was on your watch, Draymond. You didn’t know how to go help him mature. So don’t throw him under the bus because he’s still a young player. It’s just bad leadership.”

There is no doubt that Eddie Johnson is right in saying that Jordan Poole is still a young player, and thus he needs room to grow. It is unfortunate that he had to deal with a physical altercation with Draymond Green, and perhaps a new environment in Washington will be beneficial for him.

Jordan Poole averaged 20.4 PPG, 2.7 RPG, and 4.5 APG, shooting 33.6% from 3PT range during the regular season. We will see if he can blossom on the Washington Wizards, and hopefully, Pooltre ends up as a star.

Jordan Poole Wanted To Be Treated Similarly To Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, And Klay Thompson

Part of the reason that Jordan Poole was traded by the Golden State Warriors, was due to the fact that he wanted a bigger role on the team. It was reported that he wanted to be treated like the team’s stars.

“The punch was kind of like the cherry on top, but there was some festering way before that during the season that had nothing to do with the punch,” Dumas said on The Morning Roast. “He just wanted more playing time. He wanted to start, he wanted a role. Whether you think this is fair or not, he wanted to get treated like Steph (Curry), Klay (Thompson), and Dray (Draymond Green) and he noticed that, in his opinion, wasn’t equal treatment, (he) didn’t appreciate it.”

At the end of the day, Jordan Poole got what he wanted after getting traded to the Washington Wizards, which is more opportunity. Hopefully, he can make the most of it.
