The Charlotte Hornets drafted Brandon Miller with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and there is no doubt that many people criticized them for passing on Scoot Henderson.

Still, it is easy to see why the Hornets ended up drafting Miller with their pick. He fits the mold for a modern, do-it-all wing player. Franchise star LaMelo Ball is excited for Miller to join the squad, noting that the forward will “fit in perfectly”.

“But definitely Brandon, having him is great. Like a little brother, definitely cool and I think he is a great player, too — 6-9, and can handle the ball. So, I feel like he’s going to fit in perfectly and it’s going to be a great marriage,” said Ball, per Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer.

Of course, predicting what Brandon Miller’s career in the NBA will look like is difficult. There are a lot of variables that go into player development, and it is quite possible that Miller will never develop into a star. With that being said, Brandon Miller has the talent, tools, and opportunity to develop into an elite player in today’s game.

Prior to getting drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, Brandon Miller averaged 18.8 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 2.1 APG while shooting 38.4% from the 3PT range with Alabama this season. It will be interesting to see just how good he can become, and it is clear that the Hornets are high on his ability.

Brandon Miller Believes Trash-Talking Michael Jordan Led To His Selection As No. 2 Pick

Michael Jordan obviously had a lot of input into the Charlotte Hornets selecting Brandon Miller with the No. 2 overall pick. In fact, Miller suggested that his trash-talking Jordan influenced his selection at No. 2.

“He started it,” Miller said. “I think it kind of showed him another side of me because I don’t really… I mean, if you talk trash, I’ll probably look at you like you’re crazy. I think me responding to him, I don’t think he thought I was gonna say anything to him. Just because he is Michael Jordan. But, you know, I did see him airball those free throws, so that’s one thing I have above him.”

Being willing to compete and talk trash to Michael Jordan isn’t something that is done by everyone. It is clear that Miller is a confident competitor, and that is something that will absolutely aid him in his development.
