Frank Vogel Says He Is Proud Of The Lakers Despite W-L Record: “It Could Be Worse”

Frank Vogel will be preparing for an incredibly tough off-season after he will have to answer for what went wrong with the Los Angeles Lakers this season. The team started out with championship hopes, but they have been dashed in a humiliating way this season.

The Lakers are currently 2 games out of the play-in tournament as the 11th seed. Their team record is 31-47, 16 games below .500. This will be the worst regular-season record LeBron James has ever had in his career, and this season will be one to forget for everyone on this team.

Coach Vogel has been trying to keep the morale of his players high and has been supportive of the team in every interview he does. He did the same after the Lakers’ loss to the Denver Nuggets, saying that the spirit the team is showing in the losses is encouraging and that it could be worse for the team.

For a team that wanted to be a championship contender, a coach saying ‘it could be worse’ after the team lost their 6th straight game would be extremely alarming. The Lakers have the second-worst record in the league since the All-Star break, with only the Portland Trail Blazers performing worse.

The Lakers have only won 4 of their last 20 games, as they monumentally slid out of the top 10 seeds in the West. Now, the San Antonio Spurs will most likely face the New Orleans Pelicans in the 9-10 matchup for the Play-In, as the Lakers sit in the lottery (with their pick belonging to the Pelicans).

Coach Vogel is doing his part by saying the right things to appease the superstar talent on the court for the team. However, his words won’t mean much when the Lakers are officially eliminated from the post-season and he will be made to fight for his job over the off-season.
