Gilbert Arenas was on a night out with his girlfriend Melli Monaco and received a surprise he didn’t see coming. While at the club with his friends, Monaco pulled out an engagement ring and proposed to Arenas in front of everyone. Arenas said yes, and shared the video of the proposal on Instagram.

“Melli Monaco surprised me with an engagement ring. Got me feeling like a Baddie. City Boys they’re giving us engagement rings now!”

The club staffers held up signs saying ‘Men wear engagement rings too’ during Monaco’s proposal as Arenas looked clearly caught off-guard. However, when he fully grasped what was happening at the moment, he said yes and had the ring put on him. He even ran around the club celebrating the proposal, looking overjoyed at what transpired.

Melli Monaco is a French rapper and singer, well-known for her song ‘War.’ She’s also a lifestyle influencer, hosting an active Instagram account and YouTube channels where she has discussed a wide variety of topics ranging from relationships to cars. She revealed they had already gotten engaged earlier this year in an Instagram post, with this being a formal way to present Arenas with a ring.

Arenas and Monaco have reportedly been dating since 2022. The former NBA player has been engaged to Laura Govan before. We wish him and Monaco all the best on their journey ahead.

Gilbert Arenas Thinks The 2000s Was The Best Era For The NBA

Arenas might be engaged now, but it’s business as usual when it comes to the popular host of the ‘No Chill Gil’ podcast. Earlier this month, Arenas broke down why he thinks his era of play from the 2000s stands as the best era in the league’s history.

“The best era is basically for me when I played in it. Right? So from 2000 to 2001 to 2010, 11 is the best era for me. But just like anybody, it’s going to be the era that what made you fall in love with it…  I like that era because whoever you consider the great within the last 50 years, is gonna be Michael Jordan, Kobe or LeBron, I got to play against all of them. I got to all the shooting guards, you know, AI, you know, I played against Jordan, played against Kobe, AI, Dwayne Wade, Vince, like, you know what I mean? So I felt that I got to touch a lot of talent and play against it.”

Arenas averaged 20.7 points and 5.3 assists over an 11-year NBA career. He’s still considered a Washington Wizards legend by many but has candidly discussed why he doesn’t think he’s the greatest player in the franchise’s modern history. He made all three of his All-Star Game appearances wearing a Wizards jersey.

The former All-Star worked hard to get near the top of the NBA, but controversies derailed his career before leading to an early exit from the league. He’s been one of the most popular analysts of the game in recent seasons with his podcast.
