Golden State Warriors Could Join The Bradley Beal Sweepstakes

Warriors could join Heat and Knicks to make a move for Bradley Beal.

With the 2023 championship champagne still fresh in the air, it’s impossible to predict how this summer will go given all the variables at play. For now, we do know that Bradley Beal is expected to be one of the biggest names moved and the word on the street is that a new team has entered the race for his services: the Golden State Warriors.

In the aftermath of losing in the Conference Semi-Finals, it became clear that the Warriors will need more firepower if they want to reclaim a championship. If you’re new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr., where better place to look than towards the direction of an elite shooter and proven competitor?

Jordan Poole has been a repeated point of interest for the Warriors. While his shooting and shot-making helped power them to the title last year, his defensive lapses and inconsistent play have really hurt the organization and he’s a prime candidate to be traded.

But would Beal really make that much of a difference for the Dubs? Against the Lakers, shooting was not their problem, and adding Beal alongside an aging core is far from the perfect fix.

Warriors Have Big Decisions To Make This Summer

For a franchise that has enjoyed unprecedented prosperity over the past decade, the Warriors are facing some serious questions about the future. Klay Thompson is clearly not what he once was, Draymond Green could be on another team in a few months, and longtime executive Bob Myers is no longer there to save the day.

If the Dubs want to stay alive in this late Steph Curry era, they need to be willing to adapt, make changes, and make risky moves to put them at the top. For a Beal trade, they would likely have to give up somebody like Jordan Poole to make it work, but it could change things for the better.

With Beal, Curry, and Klay combined, the Warriors could re-take their place at the top of the West and set themselves up for success long after Curry is gone.
