Zion Williamson might be sidelined right now, but that doesn’t prevent the New Orleans Pelicans superstar from being involved in rumors around the NBA. A lot has been said about this player and his health, but he’s ready to make some noise with the Pels once he returns from another injury.
He’s been sidelined since January, and it’s unclear where he’ll return to action, but Zion is still one of the best players in the league, and many teams would like to have him on the roster without any hesitation. At least that’s what the Los Angeles Lakers think, or maybe just one of their staffers.
A recent video surfaced showing Williamson meeting somebody who was allegedly part of the Lakers organization. This person was quick to tell Zion that he was interested in joining the Purple and Gold, and the forward had an interesting opinion on that.
Staffer: “Heard you was tryna come play with us.”
Zion: “Woah, don’t say it out loud.”
This could be taken as a normal joke between two friends, and especially considering that Pelicans’ assistant coach Teresa Weatherspoon was also featured in the video, you can think it wasn’t just a simple joke, and Zion’s response was his way of making it clear he’s not trying to go anywhere.
Zion Williamson Remains Sidelined With Hamstring Injury
Williamson has dealt with many injuries during his NBA career, missing a lot of games since he made it to the association four years ago. This time, he’s been dealing with a hamstring injury, and the Pelicans revealed that Zion will miss more time than expected due to this injury.
He missed the 2023 All-Star Game, and many fans are seemingly getting tired of his lack of availability. This could open the door for Zion, as the Pelicans might try to get a big return for the former No. 1 overall pick if they also grow unhappy with having the player constantly on the injury report.
The Lakers and Pelicans have done business before, and curiously, it included the latter’s superstar player. History could repeat, but this is pure speculation. We have to wait and see for Zion, who was leading the Pelicans to compete in the West, until he went down with this new injury.
