The NBA offseason is in full swing right now. While teams are busy with changing their rosters, players are using the offseason either to unwind or can be spotted hooping in Pro-Ams or other programs.
Among all the offseason tournaments, though, the Drew League’s popularity has skyrocketed. While historically, the league saw players like Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant, this offseason, the Drew League is all the hype as LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan appeared in the league.
Ever since that day, many NBA players have popped up in the league. Former Boston Celtics superstar Isaiah Thomas is no exception. IT, who has found little playing time in the league for the last two seasons, is set to appear in the Drew League today.
The 33-year-old is no stranger to Pro-Am leagues or even the Drew League. Making his debut in the league last season, IT was a walking bucket in his debut game as he ended up scoring a game-high 37 points. The guard will certainly be eager to repeat such a performance today.
While his appearance in the Drew League last season was impressive, his performance in the Seattle Pro-Am League ‘the Crawsover’ was fantastic as he dropped a whopping 81 points in a game. Given his history in these preseason games, expect the guard to put on a show today.
It will certainly be interesting to see Thomas returning to the court. While chances have been sparse of late for the former MVP candidate, IT has shown glimpses of his brilliance in limited appearances in the league.
Given how much hype the Drew League has gathered right now, it is the perfect opportunity for Thomas to show his talents. If the Former All-Star balls out in the Drew League, there is a big chance that some team eventually offers IT a contract. This Drew League appearance might be a ticket back to the NBA for Thomas.
