By now, most fans will tell you that Nikola Jokic is the runaway MVP this season — and it’s for good reason. What he’s been able to do in Denver, especially over the past few months, has been nothing short of amazing, and certainly deserves recognition.

But are we overlooking another name in the conversation?

In a short message on Twitter, Grizzlies star Ja Morant nominated Steph Curry (who is also the 2021 Scoring Champ) as the NBA’s Most Valuable Player.

Curry hasn’t lost a step from his first MVP campaigns years ago. This season, he’s averaging 31.8 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game on 48.3% shooting.

Unfortunately for Curry, it’s rare for an MVP to be handed to a player who is so low in the standings. This year, Golden State is just 39-33, 8th in the West.

It’s a far cry from where this team was just two years ago, but Steph has done a good job keeping them relevant and in the playoff hunt.

What they can do, and how far they can go, remains to be seen. But when this squad gets its roster healthy, they’ll surely tip the scales of the NBA power scale.
