Ja Morant Shouts Out Grizzlies Teammates When Reporter Says He Is Must-See TV: “We Are Must-See TV.”

The Memphis Grizzlies have gotten off to a 5-3 start to the season, and Ja Morant has seemingly not missed a beat since his playoff run. The Grizzlies star is currently averaging 27.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 7.5 APG, and is an early candidate for the NBA’s Most Improved Award.

Ja Morant has gained a lot of recognition due to his recent stretch. Grizzlies reporter Parker Fleming Tweeted out that the NBA should give the team more national TV games, and categorized Ja Morant as “must-see TV”. There’s no question that Ja Morant is a spectacular player and that Fleming would be right in that assessment.

However, Ja Morant took the opportunity to shout out his teammates on the Grizzlies, and responded to Fleming’s Tweet with a correction, stating “we are must-see TV” with an asterisk. Basketball is a team sport, and it’s obvious that Morant alone wouldn’t be able to have the success that he’s had.

There’s a lot of solid young talent on the Memphis Grizzlies. Dillon Brooks had a great season last year, averaging 17.2 PPG while playing some stellar defense. He has thus far been out for the season with a hand injury. A notable player that is having somewhat of a breakout year is Desmond Bane, who is averaging 17.5 PPG while shooting 41.3% from beyond the arc. There’s no question that aside from Ja Morant, there are still some really good players on the team.

Nobody wins by themselves, and neither will Ja Morant. Metta Sandiford-Artest notably stated that one can’t win without teaming up with others, and said “good luck” to anyone trying to win by themselves. It was great to see Ja Morant shout out his teammates, as they’ve made strides of their own to help the team be successful. Perhaps one day some of his teammates will become stars as well, and that would certainly lead to some great Grizzlies teams in the future.
