Ja Morant’s Father Roast Him After First-Round Win vs. Timberwolves: “He Played Like Trash”

The Memphis Grizzlies closed out the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 6 of their first-round series, clearing any doubt they could be about them. Even though Anthony Edwards balled and dropped 30 on the Grizzlies, they were too much to bear for the Timberwolves (no pun intended) and got away with the win.

Ja Morant didn’t have the best series of all, as his numbers weren’t as good as they could be in the regular season. The team still won, but there was one person that wasn’t completely happy with the former No. 2 overall pick’s performances.

As his son has stated before, Tee Morant is Ja’s biggest critic, confirming that in a post-game interview where he said the young point guard ‘played like trash’. When FOX 9’s Pierre Noujaim was doing a report, Tee asked him if he could do an interview. It was unexpected, yet fun to watch.

Tee was very confident in the Grizzlies. He talked about his bet with Karl-Anthony Towns’ dad, but also reflected on his son’s performance. As stated before, Tee took some shots at Ja even after the win.

Just trying to wrap up the night & was not prepared for Tee Morant to ask me to do an interview. Love the honesty when asked about his son's play 😂 @JaMorant #GrindCity pic.twitter.com/TpfIAvoHSa

What was the difference in this series? Once we see the finish line, it’s over with.

How would you say Ja played in this series? Ja played like trash. Trash.

Did Papa Towns eventually put on the jersey? He reneged on the bet. I think he grabbed it and put it on his left arm, which I thought he was going to do anyway because he’s too big to put son’s jersey on.

How do you feel about that? That’s still my brother.

That was a fun series though, wasn’t it? I love how Ant Man played. I think Minnesota is building something great.

Do you think a little rivalry might be starting between Minnesota and Memphis? No, we ain’t got no rivalry. We about to kill everybody.

It’s time to focus on the next challenge for the Grizzlies. They will face the inspired Golden State Warriors that didn’t have any problems defeating Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets in five games. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole are a deadly trio right now, but the Grizzlies won’t back down. They have a solid group of players and even when Ja is having an off night, the rest of the squad can show up and lead the team to the victory.

Still, the player has a lot of motivation coming into this series and if he loses the focus along the way, his father will be there to remind him he needs to play better.
