Jalen Rose Says The Warriors Told LaMelo Ball They Will Draft Him Before Picking James Wiseman On Draft Night

2 Min Read

LaMelo Ball is now part of the Charlotte Hornets after being the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft. The youngest Ball brother has made a very good impression in North Carolina, taking his team to the next level not only on the court but giving them an exposure they didn’t have in prior years.

Things would have been different for the young guard, though, as Jalen Rose recently claimed he was told he was going to be drafted by the Golden State Warriors, something that never happened. During a recent edition of ESPN’s ‘Jalen & Jacoby,’ the former NBA player revealed that Melo was misled by the Dubs, who made him believed he was going to the Bay but ended up in Charlotte, joining a very interesting team.

“The night of the draft, the Golden State Warriors told LaMelo Ball they were going to take him next and they didn’t do it. That story will come out soon,” Rose said while Jacoby asked him if he was serious.

It would be interesting to see why they took a different route and selected James Wiseman with that pick, leaving the door open for the Hornets to go with one of the most exciting players this NBA season. Melo has found his place in the world in Charlotte and even though his tenure didn’t start very well, he has proven his doubters wrong and now is the clear candidate to win the 2021 Rookie of the Year award.

Even Michael Jordan said he has exceeded the expectations, so you know this was a very good move for them. As for the Warriors, they picked Wiseman, who is expected to be the player of the future for the team given how high they are on him and what they would like to receive if any team is interested in landing their young asset.
