It was a very long road to recovery for Jamal Murray after he tore his ACL back in January of 2021. It took over 500 days for him to finally play another NBA game, and he certainly had to go through some dark times during his rehab.

Thanks, in part, to the unconditional support from the Denver Nuggets, Murray battled through it all and is now an NBA champion. A tweet from him back in December of 2021 during his recovery, in which he seemed confident of a strong comeback, has now gone viral.

“The work now will show later.”

It was all indeed on full display in these playoffs. In this 2023 postseason, Murray averaged 26.1 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 7.1 APG, 1.5 SPG, and 0.3 BPG as he played a big role in the Nuggets winning their first-ever NBA title.

In the Finals, he put up 21.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 10.0 APG, and 1.0 SPG over the five games. He became the first player in NBA history to have 10 or more assists in each of his first four Finals games and considering how many great point guards have played in the Finals, that’s very impressive.

Jamal Murray Got Very Emotional After Winning The Title

After everything he had been through, it wasn’t much of a surprise to see Murray get very emotional after winning the title. He was grateful that his teammates always believed in him and he also thanked the Nuggets for sticking by him.

Murray has repaid everyone’s faith in him in a big way and the next step for him is to build on this and reach even greater heights. While Paul Pierce claimed he is the best point guard in the league now, he still has some ways to go before he can really get that title. If he keeps his head down and continues to work on his craft, there could come a day when he is viewed as the best.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
