The Dallas Mavericks are struggling right now despite having two of the best offensive players in the NBA on the roster, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Kyrie has taken a different role in crunch time in recent games, and Jason Kidd recently explained what he’s trying to do with the talented point guard.

“I think when you have those types of players and Luka (Doncic) is going, putting Kai (Kyrie Irving) in the corner to create space, he’s patient enough to understand the ball will find him at times.”

“I thought when Luka and Maxi (Kleber) or Luka and DP (Dwight Powell) in the pick-and-roll, or Timmy (Tim Hardaway Jr.), it created a problem for the defense and understanding that Luka was great getting downhill — layups or creating open shots (for teammates). Sometimes you use great players for gravity and creating space, and that’s what Kai did there late.”

This sounds good if you think about it, but when you see the results, it’s not as good as Kidd tries to explain. The Mavericks are struggling right now and things can’t be any worse after losing to the Miami Heat on Saturday night, earning a lot of criticism from fans

Dallas Mavericks Are 1-6 In Their Last 7 Games

The Texan team appeared to be ready to compete for big things this season but the situation has gotten complex for them, struggling to get victories. Following the 129-122 defeat against the Miami Heat, they lost their sixth game in the last seven matches.

Right now, they are out of the play-in tournament, and many people are trying to find someone to blame. Some say it is Kyrie’s fault, others point at Jason Kidd, but nobody can find what’s wrong with the Mavs.

Doncic and Irving were expected to take the Mavs to the Finals, but as things stand right now, they can’t even make it to the playoffs.
