The Boston Celtics made headlines on Christmas Day with one of the most impressive wins in arguably the most anticipated matchup of the night. Jayson Tatum stood front and center as the clear star.

The Milwaukee Bucks stood no chance when they visited the TD Garden to face Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. One of the best defenses in the NBA fell apart as the Celtics scored nearly 140 points, with Tatum leading the way with 42 points. He was the highest scorer on Christmas and took another step forward in the quest to win his first MVP.

This performance against Giannis marks yet another excellent outing for Tatum when faced with another player in the MVP race. He has comprehensively beaten other MVP contenders like Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and more when facing their teams, all resulting in wins.

Tatum has had rough nights this season, but he has shown up for Boston when they needed it the most. Giannis faltered against the Celtics, further proving to the voters why Tatum may be deserving of MVP over the Greek Freak.

Is Jayson Tatum The MVP Frontrunner?

Tatum’s performances this season have exemplified the Celtics’ excellence on the court. The team has had a rough December, losing the No. 1 seed momentarily to the Bucks before a strong run of fixtures brought them back to the top.

Nikola Jokic is rapidly climbing up the ranks after a sensational performance against the Suns that might have been more impressive than Tatum’s. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks to a big win over the Lakers, so he is still not out of the mix as the Mavs improve their record. This season will be an all-time MVP battle between the stars around the league, and Tatum is leading the race right now.
