Jeff Teague Reveals LeBron James' Savage Trash Talk To Him In 2015 Playoffs: "Can You Score More Than Me?"
Throughout the early part of his career, LeBron James was dubbed the "King of the East" due to his dominance within the conference. From 2011 to 2018, LeBron James led his teams to the NBA Finals, and though some of those years he lost to Western Conference teams, it is clear that he was absolutely dominant during that time-span.
One of the better teams that LeBron James faced and defeated in the Eastern Conference was the 2015 Atlanta Hawks team, which notably had four All-Stars that year. One of those All-Stars was Jeff Teague, who recently revealed that he was on the receiving end of some trash talk from LeBron James, who asked Teague if he would be able to score more points than him.
Jeff Teague: "It's gonna be a long f***ing night."
LeBron James: "Can you score more than me?"
Jeff Teague: "Yeah!"
LeBron James: "You're gonna have to show me."
"I averaged 18 points that series. Bron had like 38." (52:42)
Though LeBron James didn't quite average 38 PPG against the Atlanta Hawks, it must have felt like it. He completely dominated the Hawks in the 2015 Eastern Conference Finals, averaging 30.3 PPG, 11.0 RPG, and 9.3 APG in the series, impacting every aspect of the game. Even though the Hawks were a good regular-season team, they stood no match against LeBron James in his prime.
LeBron James Destroys Trash Talkers On The Court
There is no doubt that LeBron James isn't necessarily a huge trash-talker. The way he expresses himself is simply through his performance on the court. In fact, he once dropped 39 points on a player who trash-talked him, according to Lonnie Walker.
"Ain’t even gonna lie someone said something to him and he said 'remember you said that' see what happens when you poke the bear."
There is no question that LeBron James isn't someone opponents should give extra motivation to. LeBron James has the talent and the ability to back up what he says on the court as well, and at some point, it is best to leave him alone. Still, as a competitor, if you trash talk, then you should be willing to trash talk the best player on the court.
