John Wall has been out of sight and out of mind for a while now so it can be easy to forget just how great he was when he was healthy. Wall is a 5-time All-Star who for his career, averages 19.1 points and 9.1 assists per game. Despite his great play on the court, Wall still has his fair share of detractors and one of them happens to be Colin Cowherd.

On his show, Cowherd was hyping up Draymond Green after his performance in Game 2 of the NBA Finals when he took a shot at John Wall and Russell Westbrook, claiming that they never made their teammates better as Green has done.

It is so wrong to say that about someone like Wall, who had been one of the better playmakers in the league. That average of 9.1 assists per game for his career actually ranks 8th all-time in the history of the NBA and only two active players can better Wall’s average. Those two happen to be Chris Paul (9.50) who’s regarded as the ‘Point God’ and Trae Young (9.1), so to say that Wall never made his teammates better is just incorrect.

Wall took exception to Cowherd’s claims as you’d expect and called him a joke. Colin is known for his flaming hot takes and he has not been the biggest John Wall fan over the years. He previously cautioned the NBA world from hyping up Ja Morant by comparing him to Wall and saying that guys like him do not last long in the league.

While that is something that can be argued upon, what can’t be is what Cowherd says here, as there can be no denying that Wall made his teammates better and Otto Porter Jr can perhaps attest to that. The then Wizards forward cashed in a four-year, $106.5 million contract in 2017 while playing alongside Wall and we’re sure he appreciated Wall’s role in helping him land that massive deal.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
