Big man Karl-Anthony Towns is considered one of the best at his position in the NBA, and one of the franchise players on the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is most well-known for his 3PT shooting ability, shooting 39.5% from 3PT range on 4.2 attempts per game. Towns considers himself the best shooting big man of all time, and the reason for that is simple.

When speaking to Zion Olojede of Complex recently, Towns claimed that he is the best shooting big of all time because of his numbers.

“Women lie. Men lie. Numbers don’t. I feel I’ve done a lot. I’ve been very fortunate to have people like Dirk Nowitzki and people who made it even possible for me to shoot at my size.”

Though a lot of people will disagree with him, Towns does have a solid point. He leads centers in having the most 3PT field goals made for his career, at 839. At least in terms of shooting 3PT shots, he is the best center ever, as he is efficient on a relatively high volume.

This past season, Towns averaged 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 36.6% from 3PT range. This was a bit of a down season by his standards, and hopefully, we see Towns get back to All-NBA form in the future for the Timberwolves.

Karl-Anthony Towns Wants To Stay On The Court And Help The Wolves Win

Last season, Towns only played 29 regular season games, and it is clear that this affected the Timberwolves in the regular season. Recently, Towns claimed that he wants to stay healthy this year and lead the Timberwolves to a winning season.

“I think it’s just me being the best I can for my teammates. Especially for Mike, Rudy, and everybody, just being at the top of my game. Very blessed that I am actually healthy this time, God willing that stays true. What you can expect from me is to do what I have done every day since I came into the NBA. Be the best teammate I can be, utilize my talents to help us win, and have an amazing season.”

There is no doubt that this is a solid goal for Towns. If he is healthy, the Timberwolves should be a dark horse contender, given the presence of Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert on the roster. Hopefully, he is able to achieve his goal and play at least 65 games to be in consideration for an All-NBA award.

Karl-Anthony Towns And Anthony Edwards Can Be Dangerous Together

Towns and Edwards are both All-Star-level players, who work well together. It will be on them to bring the Timberwolves back to the playoffs. Gobert will be the defensive anchor, but those two need to provide the offense and score timely buckets for the Timberwolves to be an elite team.

The swing factor will, of course, be Edwards’ development. If he remains an All-Star, the Timberwolves can be a good team. However, if he becomes a superstar, their ceiling will be a championship.

The Timberwolves are definitely a team to watch in the Western Conference. They have star power and are deep, and depending on how the season goes, they could certainly be in conversations as a contender by the end of the year.
