In what became their most humiliating game of the season, the Lakers were mocked, trolled, and bullied throughout Wednesday’s blowout loss to Minnesota.
Karl-Anthony Towns called LeBron James a “b*tch,” Westbrook got clowned after missing a jumper, and Patrick Beverley smacked LeBron’s backside during a play late into the second quarter.
It was an aggressive and intense game, to say the least, and Towns was playing like a guy who was on a mission.
“People was talking sh*t on the sideline, I handled it. That’s really it to that. I’m not a guy who’s gonna do the talking, but… if you gonna talk, we gonna talk then.”

Towns did not reveal the name of the player who started talking, nor did he reveal what was said. But for a Lakers team that’s 12 games under .500, it probably wasn’t a good idea to say anything.
Seemingly fueled by the words of his competitors, Towns went off against the Lakers, dropping 30 points and 8 rebounds on 53% shooting. He went viral for his performance and theatrics, but some say he took it too far.
“Karl-Anthony Towns is better than what he was last night. You tainting Russell Westbroook like that. He is clearly having an absolutely, positively miserable season; the worst season of his career,” said Stephen A. Smith. “But to mock him like that, I was like, ‘Damn, that’s kind of classless y’all. Y’all can do better than that, especially when you’re Minnesota and you ain’t been doing anything for the better part of the last two decades. You having a good season now, congrats to you. But damn. It was a little excessive. A little bit unclassy, I might say.”
Towns and the Timberwolves are having a great season. For the first time in years, they look like a real playoff team that poses a threat to any squad in the West.
But the season isn’t over yet, and they still have a lot to prove before anyone is really taking them seriously. Depssiteall the talking they’ve done over the past few days, it remains to be seen if they can handle the pressure of a 7-game series.
