The Phoenix Suns just got eliminated from the 2023 NBA Playoffs. The Arizonian team landed in the postseason with huge expectations, and after surviving against the Los Angeles Clippers, they faced a bigger challenge in the Denver Nuggets.

After six games, the Nuggets won the series 4-2, sending the Suns home and ruining their chances to win the 2023 NBA championship. Everybody had something to say after the series was over, including Kevin Durant.

When asked about the development of the series and how the season went down for the Suns in general, the 2x NBA champion had a blunt response, refusing to give an excuse for this exit and just vowing to come back stronger.

“If I provide context it’ll just be looked at like an excuse,” Durant said. “We just gotta be better next year.”

This comes after he was told all the things that happened to him and the Suns during the season. KD was traded ahead of the trade deadline, and things started going wrong for them very quickly.

An injury prevented him from playing several games, but as soon as he returned, the Suns took off. Of course, it always takes time to develop chemistry and find their rhythm, but the Suns looked really great, at least in the last regular-season games.

Then, they faced the Los Angeles Clippers and even though they beat them in five games, the Clips almost every game found a way to complicate the Suns. Things got worse when Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and co. showed up, taking the Suns out in six games.

It’s easy to see why things didn’t work out for this team, but Durant knows the NBA community so well that whatever he said would be used against him, and he only said the Suns need to do better now.

Kevin Durant Admits The Denver Nuggets Were A Lot To Take For Suns

He was very candid when talking about the Nuggets, saying that they were on a mission and shocked the Suns at the very beginning. They couldn’t recover, and the Nuggets advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in three years.

KD also praised Nikola Jokic, calling him one of the greatest ever, hyping up the Serbian player for his incredible performances during this series. Now, the Suns will have a lot of work to do to come back stronger next season. Durant knows they missed a big chance this season and will try to make it up next year. But first, the Suns must make some changes to the roster.
