Kevin Durant may be one of the best scorers this game has ever seen, but he still engages with fans on Twitter just like any normal person would. KD is almost always happy to discuss the game of basketball, often getting into conversations with fans on the platform. He’s also not above occasionally trolling people, using memes like he recently did in this seemingly random conversation

He showed his funny side on Twitter again after Brooklyn’s win over Charlotte on Tuesday night. Uncharacteristically for him, Durant scored just 14 points in the game as Kyrie Irving took over the scoring instead. This caused issues for a number of people that had placed bets on how much Durant would score in the game. One fan tweeted joking about how KD needed to be prosecuted for his performance.

Durant saw the tweet and was quick to respond, jokingly reveling in the fact that he had the power to affect the outcome of people’s bets.

“When them parlays don’t hit. This is for years of slander from nba fans, im grateful I have this much power now. “

A parlay is a series of cumulative bets that have to all come true for the chance to exponentially increase a bettor’s winnings. Durant scoring more than 20 points in any game he plays is a very safe bet so the fact that he didn’t even hit 15 is likely to have messed with several people.

KD’s public persona means that he has been exposed to quite a bit of hate online for his performances and his decisions throughout his career. His stint with the Golden State Warriors rubbed many NBA fans the wrong way and they weren’t afraid to let Durant know about their feelings, so that’s probably the slander KD is referencing in his tweet. In any case, Durant scoring more than 20 will almost always remain a safe bet, whatever he may say while having a bit of fun trolling.
