In 2008, noted comedian Will Ferrell starred in an American sports comedy film ‘Semi-Pro’, where he played the role of ‘Jackie Moon’, the owner of ABA team ‘Flint Tropics’. The movie is full of laughs as Jackie Moon tries to make sure his team is not left behind in the ABA and can join the 1976 merger of the league with the NBA.

While the film didn’t set the box office alight, it has become a cult classic amongst basketball fans. Ferrell is known in NBA circles for his affinity for the game, with him even participating in skits alongside rapper Drake and DeMar DeRozan previously for the NBA Award Show.

Ferrell was present at the Chase Center in San Francisco as the Golden State Warriors prepared to face the Los Angeles Clippers in a Western Conference clash. However, this wasn’t just a regular celebrity cameo as Ferrell got onto the court in his Jackie Moon costume and started throwing up shots alongside Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.

The Golden State Warriors would go on to put on a show for Jackie Moon as they emerged victorious on the night to end a 4-game losing streak. They were coming off a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, who were led by a season-high 56 points by LeBron James.

The Warriors have been struggling all of 2022 with a 17-18 record in 35 games played so far. They have missed defensive anchor and playmaker Draymond Green in this stretch, but the Warriors will have the former Defensive Player of the Year back in the line-up soon. The Warriors are also yet to see 2020 second overall pick James Wiseman make his season debut.

Ferrell’s presence on the Warriors’ home court may have motivated them to beat the Clippers without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and his shootaround antics were a bright spot in a rough time for the team.
