The NBA season is less than a month away at this point, and all eyes will be on the Golden State Warriors as they look to defend their crown. The Warriors returned to the top of the mountain in 2022 after a couple of down years as Stephen Curry led them to their 4th championship in the last eight seasons.

On their way to the title, Golden State finally got Klay Thompson back on the court after the star guard had missed over two years with injuries. His return to the top mirrored the team’s, as they battled through some major adversity for a couple of years but showed those champion qualities in this past postseason.

Klay Thompson Is Confident About The Warriors’ Prospects For The 2022-23 Season

Klay wasn’t quite at his best as was to be expected of someone who was out for so long, but it didn’t matter in the end. It showed just how talented this Warriors roster is at present, that despite Klay’s inconsistent play, they were able to go all the way. Considering all that talent at their disposal, it shouldn’t be too surprising that they are confident about repeating as champions, and Klay said as much on his Instagram live.

“Starting the season 2023. I ain’t making no promises but I like our chances.”

He and the Warriors have every right to feel quite confident heading into the upcoming season. If their big guns can stay healthy come postseason, then we have seen that not many teams are really capable of keeping pace with them and the scary part is that they should be better next season.

The likes of Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins who had breakout campaigns in 2021-22 should only keep getting better while Curry isn’t showing any signs of slowing down just yet. Klay should also perform much better, as it usually takes a player a little while to get up to speed after such a long layoff. Head coach Steve Kerr is expecting him to have a big year and if Klay is anywhere near his best, then the rest of the league is in deep trouble.

The Warriors also got some more good news recently, with Andre Iguodala announcing his return for his 19th season. Iggy is no longer a big factor on the court, but his presence in the locker room is vital to the team, and he also serves as a great mentor to some of their younger players, like Jonathan Kuminga. It looks all rosy for the Warriors at the moment, and it is going to take a special effort to take them down next season.
