Klay Thompson is one of the most beloved players in the NBA right now, and that won’t change anytime soon. The Golden State Warriors star has always been doing regular-people stuff, acting like an average person instead of a four-time NBA champion. This attitude has granted Klay a lot of love and admiration.
If that wasn’t enough, the shooting guard recently confirmed why he’s so valued within the league and the rest of the world. Thompson is a down-to-earth guy who doesn’t hesitate to make life better for other people. Recently, he starred in a wholesome moment with a 15-year-old Warriors fan that wished to meet him.
Teaming up with the Make-A-Wish foundation, Klay met Joseph Tagaban, who is battling a rare form of cancer.
After nine months of treatment for a rare form of cancer, Joseph Tagaban knew what he wanted for his wish: to meet @KlayThompson.
The @Warriors' star made that wish come true as Klay gave Joseph an unforgettable day 👏@MakeAWish | @MakeAWishAKWA pic.twitter.com/cmrSTqOgWS

Together with the Make-A-Wish foundation, ESPN recently released their My Wish series, with Warriors’ very own Klay Thompson as one of the featured athletes in this year’s inspirational series.
The My Wish series, airing on SportsCenter, features world class athletes, global superstars, and championship teams granting once in a lifetime experiences to children facing critical illness who have demonstrated strength and resilience despite difficult challenges.
In the heartfelt segment, Thompson meets 15-year-old Joseph Tagaban from Petersburg, Alaska. In January 2021, Tagaban was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a rare form of leukemia rarely found in children. After nine months of enduring a series of treatments, the teen returned back to his hometown and expressed his interest in meeting the four-time NBA champion.
And his wish was granted.
Tagaban had an incredible experience with Klay and sounded very happy when discussing his meeting with the Splash Brother.
“It was pretty dang cool,” he said, via Anchorage Daily News. “His head poked up above everyone else’s. He’s like, 6-foot-7, and you could really see it was Klay Thompson. There were a lot of people asking to take a photo with him. It was understandable with him being so famous.”
“He’s just a nice guy. Despite him winning all those championships, he’s still really humble and, I mean, he’s really approachable.”
Besides being one of the best shooters in NBA history, a legend in the Bay, and one of the most iconic players in Warriors history, Klay is one of the coolest people in the league. Every season, the shooting guard surprises people with his chill attitude and humbleness. He made Joseph’s day, and that’s something he’ll never forget.
