Knicks Front Office Torn On Trading For Victor Oladipo

2 Min Read

The New York Knicks are on the verge of going another offseason without acquiring a star. On draft-night, they picked the ultra-talented Obi Toppin, but in free agency, they failed to attract any big name.

With his future in doubt, Victor Oladipo remains an interesting trade option for the Knickerbockers, who seem desperate to make some kind of splash.

On that front, however, the team’s upper management can’t quite agree on what they want to do…

According to sources, Knicks GM Scott Perry, who drafted Oladipo when with Orlando, would like to explore that avenue, but Knicks president Leon Rose is less eager. Oladipo has yet to return to elite form since knee surgery nearly two years ago.

According to sources, Oladipo is not as available as he might have been over the summer. He quickly has forged a strong relationship with new Pacers coach Nate Bjorkgren, but the 2019 All-Star is in the final year of his contract.

2x All-Star Victor Oladipo is a talented scorer and capable defender with career averages of 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists on 44.1% shooting.

Unfortunately, the past few years have seen his career raddled by injuries. He has only played in 55 games over the past two seasons combined.

In New York, he’d make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor and would help the franchise towards their climb out of the gutter.

Whether it’s by trade this season or in free agency in the summer, you can bet the Knickerbockers will continue to gauge the possibility of acquiring the 28-year-old guard. In the meantime, they will focus on developing their young core and assessing just how much value each of them has.
