Kyle Kuzma is currently on the Washington Wizards, and he has developed into a solid two-way player. However, he is most well-known for being part of the 2020 NBA championship team with the Los Angeles Lakers.
In an interview with Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports, Kyle Kuzma admitted that it is difficult for him to watch his former team lose this year. Though they won against the Denver Nuggets recently, the Los Angeles Lakers have been an overall poor team. It was noted that he is “still close” to LeBron James and Anthony Davis as well.
Kuzma said it has been hard watching the Lakers struggle so much despite having two of the top players in the league on their roster. Last season, they had championship expectations but failed to even make the playoffs.
“It’s hard to watch,” Kuzma said. “Those are your brothers. Those are my brothers for life. I won a championship with them. So, naturally, I always want to see them do good. Being healthy, that’s been an issue for them, [as well as] roster make-up for them, all this other stuff. I want to see them do well. Those are my guys.”
In fact, Kuzma said he’s still close with James and Davis.
“I talk to them all the time,” he said, adding that they regularly exchange messages on Instagram, and he often seeks their advice.
It is clear that Kyle Kuzma cherishes the bonds he formed during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers. Though he may have had to accept a low-usage role on the team, he did become a championship-winning player, a list that consists of a select few throughout NBA history.
