Kyle Kuzma is having a great time in Washington, becoming a solid player for the Wizards, who are still trying to compete in a stacked Eastern Conference. While his team isn’t playing at the best level, Kuz has been balling, showing a lot of people wrong for calling him a fraud during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers.

After his good displays, Kuz has earned a lot of attention from several teams around the league, including the one that sent him to Washington last year. Kuzma has revealed what he was told before the Lakers traded him to D.C. and has also thrown shade at his former team for being interested in him now.

He has unfinished business in LA and wants to have the chance to prove to people that he wasn’t a bust or anything and can be impactful for the Lakers. Now that he has the chance to speak, Kuz isn’t wasting time telling his truth and clarifying everything that happened during his time with the Lakers.

Kyle Kuzma Opens Up On His Struggles On The Lakers

During a recent interview with Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports, the No. 27 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft opened up about his development (or lack thereof) on the Lakers. He admitted that it was a good position to be in, but he wishes he would have better opportunities.

Kuzma became an important role player for the Lakers, but playing behind two superstars, he didn’t grow into the type of player he was projected — or wanted — to become.

“It’s a double-edged sword, a double-edged sword, for sure,” Kuzma said. “I believe that it was some of the best things to ever happen to me, you know, getting drafted, being a Laker, having that platform. Having millions and millions of people globally know who you are, that’s a blessing. That’s part of being a Laker. Learning from LeBron, winning a championship — it’s all been great.

“But at the same time, I always look back and wish I would’ve gotten the fairer end of the stick a little bit, just with my role and how much I sacrificed. It’s cool to sacrifice. That’s the only way you win championships, everybody has to sacrifice. But, just getting the fairer end of the stick, I feel like I never really got [that]. But everything happens for a reason. I’m here now [in Washington], and I’ve been able to expand my game and flourish.”

Kuzma is now thriving on the Wizards, ready to sign a big contract next summer. In the meantime, he could be traded to a different team, and the Lakers appear to be very interested in him. Time will tell how this situation plays out, but many think it’s a matter of time before we see this reunion happening.
