Kyrie Irving is happy that his Brooklyn Nets teammate Kevin Durant was traded to the Phoenix Suns.
The blockbuster trade saw Durant traded to his new franchise and in return, the Nets received Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, Cameron Johnson, and four first-round picks. With this, the Irving and Durant era in Brooklyn came to an end, and the former is just happy with how things panned out for the veteran.
Durant has been on the sidelines since January 8 after he suffered an MCL sprain against the Miami Heat. He was targeting a return before the All-Star break. Prior to his injury, he averaged 29.7 points on 55.9 percent shooting, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists this season.
Meanwhile, Irving was asked how he felt about the news of Durant finding a new home in the middle of the season. Speaking to the media after his Dallas debut, he said there were a lot of conversations between both stars about their future, and even posted a cryptic tweet.

“We had a lot of conversations throughout the year of, you know, what our future is going to look like. There was still a level of uncertainty. But, we just cared about seeing each other be places that we can thrive, and whether that be together, whether that be apart, there’s never been one moment where I’ve felt like he’s been angry at me for decisions I’ve made or I’ve been angry at him. We just tried to understand each other a lot better and grow as human beings, grow as brothers.
He also added that he was keen to play opposite Durant and that he understood the nature of the business in the NBA.
“This business changes so quickly. He’s getting a little bit older. I’m getting a little bit older. I just love the competition now that we can be at the same conference and I welcome all that. Get to see him a little bit more, probably playing against Phoenix a lot more. That’s what I’m looking forward to. Everything else in between, I’m just glad that he got out of there.”
Only time will tell how their moves will change of the balance of power out in the West.
Do Kyrie Irving And Kevin Durant Elevate Their Respective Teams To Bonafide Title Contenders?
To answer that question in one word: Yes. The arrival of both these stars will surely change the Western Conference landscape.
The Mavericks and Luka Doncic can breathe easily with Irving in the unit. It will make the side a potent offensive powerhouse, and neither of the players is a slouch on the defensive end of the game either.
As far as the Suns go, Durant and Devin Booker are a force to reckon with. Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton further solidify the fact that their starters can more than easily decimate any of their opponents right from tip-off. Safe to say, one of the teams will almost definitely be making the NBA Finals this season.
