Lakers Assistant Coach Rasheed Wallace Once Claimed LeBron James Wouldn’t Dominate In His Era: “I Don’t Think He Would Be As Successful As He Is Now. It’s A Whole Different Era Back Then.”

Rasheed Wallace was one of the more controversial players of his time, and he never held back when it came to expressing his opinions. Wallace was great on the court as he was a 4-time All-Star, but you had to take the good with the bad in his case. He tends to run his mouth a fair bit, and one such occasion was back in 2020 when he made a claim regarding LeBron James on the “Million Dollaz Worth Of Game” podcast.

Wallace, who is now set to coach LeBron as an assistant to Darvin Ham, claimed on the podcast that the King wouldn’t be as successful in his era, as it was much tougher back in the day, which is something a lot of ex-players love to bring up every now and then.

“He probably would’ve done good with his physical stature, with him being bigger than the majority of the rest of the players. So he probably would’ve held his own, but I don’t think he would be as successful as he is now. It’s a whole different era back then. I couldn’t necessarily say that he would’ve been a beast, but I think he would’ve held his own.”

We are pretty sure, despite his claims, that LeBron would absolutely ball out in the late 1990s and the early 2000s. His physicality would have helped him fit right in back then, and he even dominated Wallace’s Pistons in the playoffs a few years down the line in 2007. If there is any bad blood left over from back then, then Wallace needs to put that behind him.

We doubt LeBron would make a big deal out of Wallace’s comments from 2020 as we saw him and Rajon Rondo get along and play at a high level together despite some issues between them in the past. All the King cares about is winning that championship, and if Wallace can help with that, then he is going to be all ears to whatever Sheed has to say.
