After a 124-108 win over the Pelicans on Sunday, the Lakers ended their season in the best way possible and also managed to avoid the bottom half of the play-in as the 8th seed In the West. It was an impressive showing on all fronts and pure domination against a Pelicans team at full strength.

Unsurprisingly, it was the star duo who showed off in the game. They were the best players on the floor all night long and combined for 58 points. In 32 minutes, Anthony Davis dropped 30, 11, and 3, while LeBron tallied a triple-double with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and a whopping 17 assists on 55% shooting.

On X, fans were blazing with excitement, and many of them began looking ahead to the Western play-in, where they would see them battle against the same team they had just beaten that night.

While the play-in tournament is not ideal for the Lakers, they only have to win one game to advance to the first round, where the Denver Nuggets will be waiting. It’ll be an uphill climb for the Lakers, but the West runs through Denver regardless, and it may be better to face them before the grind of multiple playoff series.

Unfortunately, it hardly matters for the Lakers since their fate has already been decided. All they can do now is prepare for the fight to come and take care of business whenever they can.

As for LeBron James, he’s looking better than ever this season and his most recent milestone is a sign that he’s still got plenty of fight left to give this season.

LeBron James Crosses Historic Milestone

Even after 20 years in the NBA, Lakers star LeBron James continues to break records as he defies the natural laws of time. Tonight, in the final Lakers game of the regular season, he made history once again with his 11,000th assist, making him the first player ever with 40,000 points, 11,000 rebounds, and 11,000 assists for his career.

LeBron technically makes history with every single point he scores. As the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer, he updates the scoring record every game but having that total in points, rebounds, and assists for his career is just unprecedented stuff.

While the Lakers are coming into the postseason as major underdogs, LeBron’s continued excellence gives them a chance against anyone and if the Lakers can just stay healthy, they may have a shot to take down some of the best in the West.

But first, the Lakers must take it one game at a time and focus on the task in front of them. Right now, that’s a matchup against the Pelicans this Tuesday in New Orleans. If they can win there and secure their playoff Spot, it can give them a crucial head start on preparing for the next round, which will require the maximum effort, chemistry, and execution.
