LeBron James and Kyrie Irving were expected to become a terrific duo in Cleveland and lead the Cavaliers to win multiple championships. They did travel to the Finals several times, but only won one title, probably the most iconic championship in NBA history.
After spending six years in Cleveland, three playing with LeBron, Irving requested a trade from the Cavaliers, landing in Boston. The following season, fans made sure to troll both players whenever they had the chance. This prompted big responses from both James and Irving.
Hoopsview recently remembered these moments, which made a lot of noise around the association.
First, the point guard, who was already part of the Boston Celtics, was heckled during a game. As he went through the tunnel, somebody asked him where LeBron was, and Kyrie came up with an NSFW response.
“S**k my d**k,” the 2016 NBA champion shouted as he left the court.
A couple of months later, LeBron starred in a similar situation, with one fan asking him about his former teammate. “Hey LeBron, where’s Kyrie?” somebody asked, and The King had a big comeback, shutting down that heckler.
“At your momma’s house,” the then Cleveland Cavaliers superstar replied while getting into rebounding position.
What started as a great association between these two ended up as a disaster for the Cavs. Kyrie reportedly didn’t want to play under LeBron’s shadow anymore, his father had beef with the King, James’ camp though he was ‘soft,’ and more was said about this situation.
Even after joining the Brooklyn Nets and LeBron traveling to Los Angeles, Kyrie kept taking jabs at the King. Last year, he roasted James for missing a free throw during a Nets-Lakers matchup.
Still, Kyrie admitted in the past that he learned a lot from LBJ, and nobody can change that. This season, they are struggling due to different reasons. James’ Lakers can’t get things going after trading for Russell Westbrook while Kyrie is yet to make his debut due to his refusal to take the COVID-19 vaccine.
Fortunately, the Nets are doing fine without Irving, but his presence would bring a lot of benefits to his team.
These two always star in controversy, even after going separate ways. That’s probably one of the things Kyrie learned from Bron.
