LeBron James’ career in the NBA is not over. The King put fans’ minds at ease after announcing that he’ll return to play for season 21 at the 2023 ESPYS.

During his speech, James addressed other things as well, including the respect he wants from fans regardless of whether they love or hate him.

“Listen, you can love me and I know some of you hate me as well,” James said. “But the one thing you will always do is respect me and appreciate the way I approach the game and what I’ve given to this game.”

LeBron James is undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time. He has given his heart and soul to the game of basketball for more than 20 years.

James has millions of fans around the globe, but he’s also one of the most scrutinized superstars in NBA history. But as the King mentioned, one thing that fans should do is respect his game.

How Long Can LeBron James Play In The NBA?

LeBron James averaged 28.9 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 6.8 APG in the 2022-23 NBA season. He proved that he still has a lot left in his tank.

But being 38 years old and finally showing minor signs of slowing down, one may wonder for how long he can keep competing in the NBA. Well, according to Kendrick Perkins, LeBron James can play until he turns 50 years old.

“LeBron actually could play until he’s 50. If LeBron can buy into the Udonis Haslem role where he’s on the bench being a veteran leader? You don’t think a team would want him?”

This is an interesting proposal by Perkins. During the twilight years of his career, Udonis Haslem succumbed to a locker-room leader for the Miami Heat rather than contributing on the court.

It would be weird to see LeBron in a similar role, even if he’s in the NBA until he turns 50. As of now, James remains one of the best players in the league and will hope to win the fifth NBA title of his career in the 2023-24 season.
