LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers had yet another disappointing showcase against the Houston Rockets last night. Playing against one of the worst-performing teams in the NBA, the Lakers weren’t able to get the win and lost to the Rockets in overtime. And one embarrassing moment involving LeBron James summed up the entire team’s performance.

In just the 1st quarter of the game, Eric Gordon of the Rockets was bringing the ball up while being guarded by LeBron James. Gordon then hit a wonderful crossover on LeBron James, one that left LeBron stranded away from him, before Gordon tricked James again with a pass fake before he sunk the 3-pointer.

It was not a good look for James, as he was made to look like a bad defender, which he is not. But the moment pretty much summed up the Lakers’ performance against the night, as they fell for everything the Rockets wanted them to and gave them almost all the looks that they wanted.

LeBron James spoke after the game, noting that teams have been punishing the Lakers the entire season and that the team has no margin for error. On top of that, he took responsibility for the loss because of his poor shooting and promised that he would play better during the next game. The Lakers need to figure things out pretty soon.

The fact of the matter is there is very little time left before the season ends and if the Lakers don’t start making some changes, they could very easily miss the playoffs, and even the play-in tournament. Now is the time for all the players wearing the purple and gold to step up, because the rest of their season is on the line. The Lakers need to treat all of their games like a playoff game going forward.
