  • LeBron James had been working out at Lourdes High School in Minnesota
  • At the end of the week, he had a little surprise for the students
  • LeBron showed up unannounced at the auditorium and the students went wild

Students at Lourdes High School got the surprise of a lifetime recently when LeBron James showed up at their auditorium. James shared a post on Instagram of him surprising the students, who went wild when they saw him on stage.

“HUGE s/o Lourdes High School in Rochester, MN for this week’s long hospitality, prayers, love, and support. I am very thankful for it all. Special thanks to Coach Larson for not only opening up the weight room and gym every day no matter the time but simply because of your generosity & helpfulness! To the faculty, teachers, coaches, principal, students you guys absolute ROCK!!!! P.S. As you can see I surprised the students at the end of the week in the auditorium right after my workouts!”

This is something those students won’t forget for the rest of their lives. I only pity the ones who might have skipped this because they assumed it was probably going to be just another one of those boring speeches from the faculty.

LeBron was in Rochester for the whole week it would appear and wanted a place to work out. Lourdes opened up their gym and weight room for him, something the 38-year-old is understandably quite grateful for.

Why Was LeBron James In Minnesota?

LeBron hasn’t said anything about why he was spending time in Rochester, but we can make a bit of an educated guess. James and his son Bronny visited a leading heart specialist hospital in Minnesota in August called Mayo Clinic. The two might have just headed over there to continue treatment of some sort or to evaluate Bronny’s condition.

Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest back in July, but fortunately, seems to be doing well now. It was reported that Bronny is expected to make a full recovery, as a congenital heart defect was revealed to be the cause of the cardiac arrest and Mayo Clinic was where the family had gone for follow-up evaluations.

LeBron James Clearly Isn’t Slacking

LeBron was in Saudi Arabia recently, but if you think he’s taking it easy in the offseason, this is just further proof that he isn’t. The 19-time All-Star is hard at work, even when he’s away from the Lakers’ facility, presumably for a family matter.

With the 2023-24 season just over a month away, James would be ramping up his training to get ready for his 21st season. His 20th wasn’t too shabby, as LeBron averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game.

He took the Lakers all the way to the Western Conference Finals, but there, they got swept by the eventual champions, the Denver Nuggets. While a trip to the Conference Finals would be somewhat of a success for most players, it isn’t for James.

LeBron desperately wants to win that fifth championship, and the front office is trying its best to assemble the best possible squad for it. The latest acquisition is Christian Wood, who signed a two-year deal with the Lakers.  L.A. now has quite a deep roster and if James and Anthony Davis can stay healthy, they’re going to be serious contenders next season.
