LeBron James: “My Goal Is To Own An NBA Franchise, And It’ll Be Sooner Than Later.”

LeBron James recently earned a huge win when he became a part-owner of one of the Boston Red Sox, one of the most successful and famous teams in the MLB. James isn’t the most beloved player in the city but he’s taking all the chances to expand his businesses. He had already bought a share of Liverpool FC and now is going further with this part-ownership.

James has stated he wants to own an NBA team in the future and he doubled down on those comments after the Lakers’ 137-121 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night. After taking a stake in Boston-based Fenway Sports Group (FSG), he’s ready for the biggest step of his life and he doesn’t hide his desire to buy a franchise.

“My goal is to own a team, own an NBA team,” he said after the game, via Indiana Express.

“I got so much to give to the game, I know what it takes to win at this level, I know talent and I also know how to run a business as well. So that is my goal. My goal is to own a NBA franchise, and you know it’ll be sooner than later.”

He was very happy about this decision and is set to go further after his NBA career is over.

“For me, and for my partner Maverick (Carter), to be the first two black men to be a part of that ownership group, in the history of that franchise, I think it’s pretty damn cool,” said James.

“It gives me and people that look like me, you know, hope and inspiration that they can be in a position like that as well, that it can be done. It gives my kids at my primary school more and more inspiration as well.

“It’s a pretty amazing thing and for me to continue to build my Portfolio off the floor also in a beautiful game like baseball.”

James is one of the most successful and honored players in the NBA and he’s also one of the most successful businessmen in the league right now. He wants to leave a big mark on and off the game and is taking the right steps to meet his goal.

Michael Jordan became the first former player to own a team when he bought the Charlotte Hornets in 2010. Bron could follow his footsteps and buy a franchise; seeing how he’s doing business right now, that’s a very likely possibility for him.
