LeBron James shocked the NBA world when it was announced that he will be participating in the classic Drew League this offseason. His appearance saw him absolutely dominate with 42 points and 16 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan was also playing alongside LBJ as their team narrowly walked away with a 2-point win.

The Drew League is extremely sacred to basketball fanatics, especially in the Los Angeles area. Many NBA players are seen participating here during the offseason, with Kobe Bryant being a regular at these events. LeBron is just another name on the list of basketball legends to have played here, with LBJ’s inclusion creating great interest and getting the league broadcast to a wide audience.

His electric performance and basketball-ready condition in the middle of the offseason have been commended. The highlights have gone viral, and the reception has been mostly positive. LeBron decided to share his own personal highlight reel of the event, letting everyone know that he participated to be included in the basketball culture of LA.

LeBron is at the point in his career where he can just enjoy basketball. 20-year veterans are usually revered for staying in the league for that long, but LeBron seems to be competing at the highest possible level still. He averaged 30 points in Year 19 and is still expected to be the savior of the LA Lakers next season.

The Lakers have made interesting offseason additions, but none that move the needle enough for the Lakers to be looked at as a contending team again.

The Drew League appearance is a great moment for the city that saw both its teams miss the playoffs last season. The Lakers have a lot of internal combustion to handle right now, but at least LeBron could give the city’s fans some exciting basketball in the offseason.
