Ahead of the trade deadline, it is often wise to expect the unexpected. There is a reason that it is viewed as one of the most exciting times in the NBA season by both fans and analysts alike.

Recently, we saw an unexpected trade request from Kyrie Irving. The Brooklyn Nets were doing well this season and were viewed as contenders in the Eastern Conference by many who cover the league, with Kyrie Irving being a huge part of that.

After the trade request, some teams have already made their interest in Kyrie Irving known. One of those teams is the Los Angeles Lakers. Their position makes sense, as Kyrie Irving would likely make them a legitimate threat for the NBA title. Amidst all the rumors and speculation around Kyrie Irving and the Los Angeles Lakers, superstar LeBron James posted a mysterious Tweet, which was seemingly his reaction to the news.

It would be amazing to see LeBron James and Kyrie Irving reunite once again, as they have won a championship together in the past. However, other teams are likely to be interested in Kyrie Irving as well, and getting him won't be easy.

The Los Angeles Lakers Could End Up Making A Different Trade As Well

If the Los Angeles Lakers end up missing out on Kyrie Irving, they have other trade options that could help them win immediately. In fact, a recent report revealed that they have recently had trade talks with the Utah Jazz regarding Russell Westbrook.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz have had exploratory conversations centered around star guard Russell Westbrook, league sources tell Bleacher Report. However, the Lakers are said to be in communication with most teams to sift through the most reasonable and logical options available.

The Utah Jazz have a number of solid veterans on the roster, such as Jordan Clarkson and Mike Conley, and perhaps they would be involved in a potential trade with the Los Angeles Lakers.

It remains to be seen what course of action the Los Angeles Lakers will take in the future regarding making win-now moves. Kyrie Irving would obviously be the best trade option on the market, but there are scenarios where the Lakers don't get him. They then will have to pivot to making other moves, and a deal with the Utah Jazz is one of the best options available to them in that case.
