While this summer did not pan out as Laker fans had hoped, the Purple and Gold didn’t come out of it completely empty.
Besides some solid young additions, Rob Pelinka also brought in veteran point guard Patrick Beverley to bolster the backcourt and bring some defensive intensity to the rotation.
We have yet to see how he fits on the court with his team, but he seems to be getting along well enough with the guys so far — even superstar swingman LeBron James.
LeBron James Laughs At Patrick Beverley’s Favorite LeBron Highlight
In one clip that has gone viral online, James is asked to respond to Beverley’s favorite LeBron highlight (which is apparently one of his own blocks against him).
Chris Haynes: “I asked Pat Bev what’s his favorite LeBron highlight, this fool he going to say, ‘The block I had on LeBron!'”
LeBron James: “What’s wrong with Pat, man? He got issues.”

It has been nothing but positive vibes in Los Angeles so far. Despite many unanswered questions about the past, present, and future, the lakers are doing their best to make the most of their situation and find some common ground ahead of the new campaign.
Still, that doesn’t mean there won’t be some growing pains. Already, some of Beverley’s comments have drawn criticism from the community and it remains to be seen how his presence will affect the overall chemistry of the club.
“This quote was asinine,” said Chris Broussard. “And if I’m LeBron James and Anthony Davis, I’m feeling some kind of way. Now, ultimately they’ll have to laugh it off and not worry about it. This is ridiculous! Michael Jackson did not GET to sing with Tito, okay? Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen did not GET to play with BJ Armstrong, it’s the other way around. This is ridiculous. This is the epitome of not knowing your lane.”
The Lakers whiffed on some of their plans for this offseason, but Rob Pelinka didn’t stop to lament his losses. Now, the Lakers at least have some reinforcements to rock with for the new season.
As for Beverley, we can expect him to continue being a leader and motivator for the Lakers, which is a role that he seems to have already embraced since his arrival.
