Any team with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook is going to be tough to beat. So when the Lakeshow made the move for Russ earlier this year, it’s no surprise the team was bombarded with enormous expectations.

But with the team struggling mightily during this preseason, a lot of fans are questioning whether or not the Lakers really have what it takes to bring home another title in this campaign.

The answer remains to be seen, but LeBron is here to tell us all that it’s going to take some time before the squad can reach their potential.

“It’s going to take a minute for us to become the team that we know we are going to be capable of being,” said James. “We’re going to have moments where we’re not quite right there. We may take steps backwards. But that’s all part of … I think nothing is worth having if it’s not worth working for.”

It’s easy to forget that the Lakers have a lot of new players to incorporate into their system, which is never an easy thing to do.

The point is, it’s going to be a process for the Lakers and while fans might grow concerned with how it starts, LeBron is going to stay patient through it all.

“Me, as a leader, my job is for myself not to get frustrated,” he said. “If I don’t get frustrated, I think it will trickle down to everyone else. I’ve never been a person that’s OK with not being excellent. But I understand things take time as well. As long as I keep the main thing the main thing, stay even keel throughout whatever is going on with our ballclub, then we’ll be fine.”

It’s yet another display of leadership by James, who has won Championships in Cleveland, Miami, and Los Angeles.

During all three of his previous runs, it took some time to perfect the formula. It took some time for the guys to learn how to play together.

Like it or not, it’s going to take some time this season, too. Hopefully, Lakers fans won’t be disappointed with the results.
